Since the Antiquity, amethyst has been a rather mythical gemstone. It was said that it protected people against intoxication and helped to make vision clear. Considered to be the sacred gem of Buddha in Tibet, it has always adorned some of the greatest jewels in the world, no matter what the religion.
It is part of the widespread quartz family, like citrine and rock crystal. Its strength is 7.
Present across the entire globe, amethyst is mainly found in Brazil, Africa and India.
