Philippe and Mathieu Tournaire had a shop in Saint-Germain-des-Pres, Rue de Rennes, Mathieu often passed by the Bridge of the Arts bridge when he went towards the Louvre. He took his inspiration from the famous one to create the collection he called Lock and Love.
The idea of this collection was a seed for several months, at a time when I was often in Paris. I found it quite amusing because every time I crossed the Seine, I noticed that there were more and more padlocks and I felt that something strong was happening there. The concept appealed to me because it is akin to a popular street art form. It is a modification of the urban space which has a meaning, and this artistic side pleased me very much. While traveling in other countries, I saw that this practice existed elsewhere and that these padlocks were a sign of intercultural rallying, but also a way of declaring his love.
It was this feeling that made me want to work on this theme as early as summer 2012, then the collection was released in the spring of 2013 and since then it has been constantly expanding new models.
