Le Parapluie de Cherbourg and the House of Jewellery Tournaire present 4 exceptional umbrellas from their collaboration

Le Parapluie de Cherbourg, specialist in top-of-the-range made-in-France umbrellas, unveils four exclusive umbrellas created in collaboration with Tournaire, the jeweler with exceptional French craftsmanship.

For over 30 years, Le Parapluie de Cherbourg has been designing and hand-making top-of-the-range umbrellas that combine tradition and innovation, in the heart of the Normandy town. Charles Yvon, the founder's son, took over the company in 2018 and makes it a point of honor to put France in the spotlight. Working with luxury houses and artists, the young entrepreneur is multiplying his collaborations with the aim of making France shine around the world.

The Jewellery Tournaire house founded 50 years ago by Philippe Tournaire , in Montbrison in the Loire region, is recognized for its strong DNA and commitment. It boasts precious French know-how, the fruit ofwedding ring ancestral techniques and the most modern technologies. Tournaire is also one of the few Jewellery houses known for its spectacular made-to-measure pieces. All jewelry is made entirely in the Montbrison workshop. Over the years, Philippe Tournaire has passed on his passion to his son Mathieu, who now conveys the core values of the company.

Their amour for French savoir-faire led the two designers to collaborate to create 4 exceptional umbrellas, combining the heritage of each house. The art bronze umbrella handles are made in the Tournaire workshop in Montbrison. The canvas and the umbrella mechanism are then added at the Manufacture des parapluies in Cherbourg.

The first creation to emerge from this collaboration is the Engrenages umbrella. The umbrella's black canvas is sublimely embroidered with the Tournaire and Cherbourg Umbrella logos, embroidered in gold thread. The bronze handle features a multitude ofengrenages, universal symbols of transmission and movement. For Mathieu Tournaire, these cogs represent both the passage of time and the different members of a family: each one represents a member, and the more cogs there are together, the more forces multiply. No matter the size of the cog, each one is essential to the smooth running of the whole. A Tournaire x Le Parapluie de Cherbourg in-house tablet is also engraved on the underside of the handle.

The second piece on display is the Alchimie umbrella. The umbrella's canvas is also black and sublimated with the Tournaire and Cherbourg Umbrella logos, embroidered in gold thread. The umbrella features the shapes of Tournaire 's iconic Alchimie collection: the square, the triangle and the round, representing the past, present and future, symbols of life's journey and human evolution. A Tournaire x Le Parapluie de Cherbourg in-house tablet is also engraved on the underside of the handle.
